In my opinion, some of the new iconic graphics and boards made today are only made to be skated and not for collecting long term for the average collector, unless you take preventative measures to ensure it lasts into the future. I recommend instaid investing in first edition vintage skateboard from the past if you want a board to invest in that will always have value down the road. Knowing vintage skateboards can be restored with history intact by a skateboard collector like V.E.S. should only help the value of all vintage boards, no matter who has them!!
But as far as what I can do with new boards, I can customize the graphics in color -or not- and then seal the board up with the V.E.S. seal to lock in the work done which gives the board and graphics protection against minor damage and fading going forward. As the V.E.S. seal is a cover over the new graphics and paint, most minor scratches can be cleaned up unlike scratches directly on the thin graphics on the board. I have done this to many new boards and have had no problems, just look at some of my projects I have done.
It's my opinion, as someone that works on all kinds of boards, in any condition, is that some of the thin graphics used on some of today's boards will not last as long as the vintage boards from the past, nor will it have the same aged and faded colors we collectors have been so accustom to.
V.E.S. is the only R&D shop acknowledging and trying to fix this problem
for the average skateboard collector that cares.
