V.E.S. 6 kinds of skateboard collectors

Has anyone done this before, the breakdown of the different collectors and give them a

number and definition?

Well, if not, we will try, seeing we deal with all of them !!!

V.E.S. 6 collectors definitions

#1 "Corporate"

#3 "Deep pockets"

#2 "In the know"

#1 Of course. Can you even start to imagine what these companies have in their skateboard vaults?? It all starts here and ends here. The best of the best, and how many do they still have?

#2 "In the know"

#3 "Deep pockets"

#2 "In the know"

#2 I put a few in this category. The skateboard pros, museums, people that know people. The magazines that sell you the corporate product. The corporate loyalist.

#3 "Deep pockets"

#3 "Deep pockets"

#4 "Personal passion"

#3 This is where you will find some of the greatest collections of boards. The collectors that have money $$$$$$$$$$$$.

Maybe they love the artwork or maybe they see the chance to invest. Either way if you don't bid fast and high on Ebay, these guys swoop in and buy stuff fast. Hard to compete against these guys that are always looking to buy and they only want the best the market can offer.

#4 "Personal passion"

#4 "Personal passion"

#4 "Personal passion"

#4. These are the best collectors to know. They tend to collect boards that have history for a reason. They look for something that has history or is special  in some way. They look past the condition of the board to see value in its history. They tend to be fair when working a deal or trade and they generally will have good info of the history of the board or if you're looking for something specific, they might know were one might be.

5 "The dabblers"

#4 "Personal passion"

5 "The dabblers"

#5 So now, many, many, many years later we have so many copies of the old artwork, and we now have the new breed of collectors. The new guys on the block that drank the koolaid and want in. They see new boards and great looking new decks with old graphics. They see boards sell out fast and then go back on the market for BIG BUCKS$$

I see this form of collecting a house of cards ready to fall down, because other than the graphics that look the same, these boards will not last and look as good as the old boards for so many reasons. In my opinion these kind of boards are meant to be skated more than they are meant to be collected long term. But the dabblers don't care and see all boards the same.

6 "Flippers"

#4 "Personal passion"

5 "The dabblers"

#6 Not all flippers are bad for the market. But the ones that are don't really care for the sport or its history, they only see money when they look at a board. They will clean boards with what-ever they have to make boards look better to make more money. Some will even fix boards quick and not tell you work was done. If you are a collector, you know what I mean.

All these picture can be found online and are not used to make V.E.S. any money. They are shown as examples for this topic. Also in todays world of AI, pay close attention when doing research on this topic. I see so many new  writers using AI to fill in the blanks of there discussions and we feel that is a bad thing.

V.E.S. is and its body of work will always be done by a skater for skaters. Don't be fooled by a program because if you are, you have been programed.

How Vintage Evolution Skateboards fits in with collectors

Skatepark at Wolfeboro NH

Where do we fit in if at all. Maybe a little bit here and there, but not #1#2 or#3. Let it be said that, we are a skateboard collector that wants to change the  direction of collected skateboards, past and present for the better, for all of us. We are not in any competition with any skateboard company or shop with the latest and greatest new product, we are just fixing what was sold to us. V.E.S. has mad respect for the skateboard world, we just think it needs a little help, because when more people around the world  want more real vintage skateboard history, we want to make sure we have enough to go around in the future, that look good..
