V.E.S. Custom Vintage Sword & Skull Build

This board is a classic that was in rough shape and loosing its graphics more and more as time went on. This is also being refurbished to show you how much of the boards history we can save so that it will be a vintage collectors deck with real history far into the future.

The trucks are now off and the board is getting ready to have some stickers pulled. It may be hard to see from this picture but the graphics are very dry and can easily be rubbed off.

Board stripped, ready for work

The boards stickers were removed and some of the graphics were pulled because the board was so dry. Most of the black paint just rubbed off when removing them. But thats ok. Now that the board has been stripped down and readied for the V.E.S. Process let's see what we can do going forward.

Now ready to be V.E.S. sealed

Ready for what's next

This board had some graphic touch up to bring back some life, and the board was painted to match the O.G. color when sealed. Again this was done during the first year prototype year at the start of V.E.S. Could I have done better on the graphics? YES !!! But at this stage  I was just trying to figure the best way to do multiple things to get a better understanding of what works with what and what way and how. Since this board was done my skills have gotten so much better and I have been able to understand more and have come up with better methods and tools.

Just like any skater, practice makes perfect!!!

Original grip tape with O.G. dirt still on it for those collectors that want to keep the O.G. stock look. It now has V.E.S satin clear coat refurbished original hardware with the vintage appearance sealed in keeping its O.G. look and stopping it from aging worse and rusting. The top graphic on this board was getting thin so it darkened with a thick coat of the V.E.S. seal. This was part of my learning process to get better with the seal process.

The color matching black paint applied and sealed with the V.E.S. satin clear coat give this board and graphics a great look that will now last far into the future. This board also has the V.E.S first year stamp. (only on our first years)

The graphics can now be touched without the fear of them rubbing away and the board can be easily wiped clean for years to come!!!

Any nicks or damage to the sides have been fixed and sealed so that it has protection against environmental damage going into the future. I also didn't color the sides black because the wood Powell used back in the day really looked nice when exposed. Also at this time in my refurbishing career I was learning how to put concave back into the boards that loose it. This board had none so I put some back into the nose and sides. It is still there to this day even after it has been stepped on and skated since this build.

Original plastic guards detailed and put back on. I also went with V.E.S. detailed vintage  9" stage 3 Indy Trucks for this build and refurbished vintage Kryptonic wheels, and vintage GMN 3 608 bearings, refurbished by V.E.S. to make this not only a great looking board but to make it useable when I take it to shows and to the collectors I meet.

The real deal on this board. I look at boards in many ways so I can see how many looks a board can have. Most collectors just look at skateboards to see value,

we look through boards to see more because we work on them!!

This is just one of many custom refurbished vintage skateboard looks we can do.

Why do I do this to old boards ?

I started working mostly on old vintage boards that have no good future other than to just fade away from the collectors market. I took it upon myself to find a way to save the skateboards that are passed up by the well to do collectors of the world. The boards that if traded, get treated with no respect and only get worse with every new hand that touches it. I feel that these boards if refurbished right have a great future and value unlike all the millions of copies made today with no history at all. And I wanted to prove that a refurbished vintage looking skateboard could be skated once again, unlike most other skateboard refurbishers product.

And not just skated again, but still looking good when you get done riding it.

You can ride a copy without guilt or you can ride the real deal vintage board with pride

and thats what we offer...
