This is the V.E.S. Custom Anderson Family Project

Here at V.E.S. we do custom projects to give you something better than stock. These boards will get the V.E.S Gold standard service to make them one of a kind.

The Anderson twins

This project has been on the shelf for a while. But it's time to get it going again and with some pics.

.

Top

Bottom

Bottom

This project was started from a new board with damaged graphics. As we all should know by now, the awesome looking graphics that Skateone is using these days is very thin.

This is still in progress.

Bottom

The top color was black and had no graphics. It now has a V.E.S. custom color orange we used to get this boards look to pop.

The sides have been painted, because let's face it, the Flight deck sides look like ???

Now this board is starting to look good.

This board is still in progress so it hasn't been V.E.S. sealed yet.

It is hard sometimes to show a board in good light so I like to go out side to give it a better perspective.

Both boards have the same problems

To thin

I stood on it once

It just peels up

So many skateboard companies always talk about their graphics looking so perfect. Maybe, but I will show you what you're giving up in return.

It just peels up

I stood on it once

It just peels up

It doesn't act or age like paint on a vintage board from the 80's. In my opinion this method of putting very thin graphics on a board will not age the same way as the old skateboards,

not even close.

I stood on it once

I stood on it once

I stood on it once

I built this board for display when I got it and stood on it. Never did a trick or took it down the road and look at how it looks up close. The boards graphics are already cracking.

Here you are looking at the wood next to the graphics. Look at how you can see the woods texture through the thin paint. It's just too thin to last in the hands of the average skateboard collector looking to invest in the board for a future payout. I also did a pull test on the graphics with very soft sticky painters tape and guess what happened ? Yep, you guest it, it pulled up off the board and easy. And in a way that I could see even thinner patches of graphic paint all over the board. Perfect graphics with perfect problems.

Even closer

Bottom graphics

Even closer

This is not going to age well like the old boards from the past that everyone loves to collects. For these to look good in the future, you will have to find one from a collector that knows how to store them well. That sounds like an investment !!! I'm very sure a few nice ones will be sold in the future, but at a high price, and even then it will be hard to keep the graphics in great shape for the average collector. I started V.E.S. to help save the old boards, but I have since learned, all the the new boards need even more help. The stock shrink-wrap is the only protection you get, and that wont last long. Or you can put it into a 4mil bag and hope for the best...

These graphics and boards are going to get a V.E.S. Gold Service to add some pop and make a great graphic even better.

These were bought from Old Skull Skateboards at full asking price.

Great looking graphics but they have no pop.

This is what the boards look like under a heat lamp light. Not to much going on here for display under a different light.

WOW !

,Wow does the top graphic pop. Too bad the bottom doesn't.

WOW !

Same here, but we aim to change that for the better. Should be a fun project to work on.

The V.E.S. Custom Vintage Freestyle Anderson build

Custom

Custom

This board was built from a Wee Willi Winkles 80's freestyle board lot that was for sale on Ebay, so I bought a bunch to have fun with.

The top has a custom cut Powell sticker that has been V.E.S. sealed in with the board. Mini-logo clear grip was put on top.

The build

Not much concave here.

The build

The trucks are custom built with mini-logo hangers and Indy-like baseplates with a hollow king-pin. New Mini-logo wheels and Mini-logo bearings. The truck bolts are stainless steel.

The graphic

The vintage board

The vintage board

This graphic was custom made as a tribute to Andy Anderson. Then it was V.E.S. sealed and waxed to give it protection and a deep wet gloss.  This graphic could have been colored at any time, but I liked how it just looked.

The vintage board

The Anderson board was made from a board like this one, it was an original stock board that never got screen-printed.

.

.

Our thinking has to be out of the box to get the look just right on these boards and make them

truly one of a kind for collectors that want more out of their skateboard collection.

V.E.S. turns one in a thousand boards into the only one in a thousand.
