Then there is Brand-X. I have been following them on the collectors market for sometime. I have been watching there version of control over the collectors market and they seem to do things a little differant from P.P. and S.C.
For one they only make so many and some limited in numbers. Sounds good for the skateboard collectors market today, right? Well dive in here for a minute and here what I have seen.
1) Price is high right off the bat.
2) You have to wait a long time to get your board so order soon or they will sell out.
3)Some board I have seen don't even get on there website for sale. You have to sorse other places and pay more.
4) Some of the graphic art isn't even close to vintage boards of the past.
Now I could go on but most don't care about that. OK, fine.
But you should care about this. I have seen and recorded people telling other collectors the price is no biggy for them. They state, "since some of there boards are for charity they can right them off in taxes"
So think about that for a minute. Let's say friends of friends get a heads up on Brand-x boards and write them off for there business. It could be a skate shop or what ever. To me this is a market made for them and not the skaters. We have to pay to play now and we have no say becuase we don't matter.
Still think we have control over this market skaters?
