V.E.S. Custom H-Street Mike Carroll Build

This board was dead and flat when I got it.  But here at V.E.S. there are no dead boards!!

I bet the original owner would like it back.

2021 build

Before/After Grip Tape refurbish pictures

Someone's history saved. Is it yours?

Graphics refreshed, sealed and new adhesive applied. This grip-tape can be reapplied to board if desired. Or it can be hung on the wall as art from the skateboard history. We don't just save one thing, we try to save everything!!

Now the board is V.E.S. sealed

The whole board is now sealed with a satin finish giving back some life and protection to all the work that has been done to this board. Yes, I could have done more to the area under the bottom truck but this board was the means to figure out how the V.E.S. seal would interact with the new color of the board and the tail fix. I wasn't going for perfect here, I was going for information so the next time I do this kind of work I have a better starting point. This is just one of many  combinations of product and techniques I was trying to figure out at this time.

Still not bad for a first try with a board in these conditions..

I did do a little graphic touch up here just to clear up the board slide damage that took it away. But only enough so it didn't affect the over all look when done. Also I had to take all the residual original clear coat of the board just to re-color the wood and when done it made sense to give the graphic some help. Again, every board is different and every problem a board has is different and it evolves as you do the work. Knowing what to expect and what to do next only comes if you practice and can see the end product as you do the work. Figuring out how to deal with problems that just pop up is why today my work is so much better now days!!

My early work was a means to get my skills right, and this board is an example of that growth of knowledge.

Soon to be Finished and built!

FINISHED BOARD!!

I could have put the O.G. grip-tape back on but I kept it off just incase the next owner didn't like FISHBONE LOL!!!

This board has had some serious work done to it to get it back into a collectable state. Was it worth it? YOU BET!! Not many of these old boards out there these day for sale. And even fewer that you would stand on and skate down the road. Mike Carroll did you see what I did with your history? I didn't copy it, I made your past history last into the future for collectors.

GIVE ME A CALL

H-STREET won't call me back....

The V.E.S. Razor Tail fix was custom made for this board as it was a big problem before I started the work. I also was trying to work with colors and processes to blend and work well and stand up to use. I wanted the board to response and feel natural if skated and not like something was added or fixed. And yes it will break if skated hard like any board will but to help it make it down the road I added my custom made tough 1/2 inch tail guard to help it on it's way.

This board has had a lifetime of hard riding but now it has another life to go.

Sides and ply separation fixed and sealed ready to go down the road or add to you collection.

This front end is now ready for a new foot and doesn't feel like a flat tire anymore!!!

Great looking board with many colors. You just need to know how to look. And being V.E.S. sealed makes the graphics pop!!

Doing both brings back some of the red board and definitely makes more color show up.

Finish still looks great

You can still see the history that comes with this board, but it has not aged at all since the work was done. This is one of many looks that we can do to stop the clock of damage and save skateboards history for the future.

V.E.S. tail fix

The Custom V.E.S. tail fix for this board is still holding strong and is aging well with this board. Could I have done a different color here ? Yes but I was trying to get the color to age well with this boards stain and how it would look going into the future. Not much change in color in both the board and tail fix. Almost every vintage board I see for sale has the tail problem, and no one cares.

We do!!!

All the 7-ply separation is holding strong and the concave that was put pack into this very flat board is still there.

Not only do I stand behind the work I do, I stand on it!!!
