The V.E.S. skateboard contest is over

I had hoped to get at least 10 people into this contest , but sad to say we didn't. I had 2 hopeful contestants but most seem to just want a free skateboard deck and didn't want to do any work. I was willing to send 10 people a free vintage skateboard to refurbish and keep, but I guess that was just a little too much to ask out of the skateboard collectors. All I was looking for where more refurbishers like me willing to push the boundary's of what skateboard collecting could be. And in a way that would keep its history but still give it value and make it last for the skateboard collectors to come.  So to those that entered thanks. But this was set up for 10.

I will also look at this in this way. As I have had such a hard time trying to do something new as a collector. And as someone that had a business for 5 years saving skateboards and skaters history. I don't see this as a failure, but more to the truth of how hard it is to change the minds of skateboard collectors. As far as what we have heard since the beginning of this market. We have been told to never do anything or it will hurt the value of the board in the market. And so hearing only that over and over for years, most see that as the only way to go. But as we show here on our website and the work we have done for those that want their history to last. We have so much more that we can do before it's to late for anything to be done. And if we opened at least some minds to what is possible with this contest, well we did the very thing we are told not to do. And that is change.
