V.E.S. versions of the Product Patrol for todays collectors

Many of us old school skaters got are info here back in the day. 

This just might be one of those boards you never saw skating around with your friends. And this may be all that you know.

Just got this board in and it looks to have aged well. This board does have some problems, but it's in decent shape considering there is not many of these boards left to go around. 

This board was purchased for a total of $375 on March 31, 2023

The funny thing I have noticed over the years with vintage board value is that, sooner or later the value only goes up if it looks worth it.

I rate the condition of this board a 6 out of ten for a 30+ year old used board. The graphics are starting to crack with the boards wood drying  out some. The green stain has faded away. It feels lighter than it should for its size. And any area around the nicks and chips are drying out faster. The grip-tape is still good but like a lot of used vintage boards the top graphic has some wear on it. I see no warping and it has good concave still. The edges have held together with minimal separation. I also see no advantages to LED neon light. In my opinion this board was looked after over the year to still be in ok collecting condition. I don't think anything special was done to preserve its shape other than being hung-up or slid into a bag, and that works to a point. If nothing is done to this board it will keep slowly fading away and loosing its value for the future collectors of the world.

These vintage used Street Saw wheels were dryng out and very dirty when I got them. I give them a 2 out of ten in stock used condition. They now have had a V.E.S. refurbish to bring back some of that hidden history and aged color that will blend well with an old board. They are in better condition now, even after 30+ years, and are ready to ride or add to a classic skateboard collection as a piece of vintage skateboard history that's made to last and look good doing it. New rating 4 1/2 out of ten.

This page of info is out of a June 1988 Thrasher mag. I don't have the wheels to compare condition. just the board and trucks.

This time I'm going to give you my opinion of a board that was for sale on Ebay. Offered price was $200+ shipping. From what I can see from the pics, the boards graphics have some history. I see a few stress cracks from use in the past. There is no grip-tape, sometimes leaving it on an old board will slow the wood from drying out over the years. The tail looks to be worn evenly thanks to the only guard on this board.  I would say by the look of the out side layers of the wood, its probably dry and would snap if skated hard, it would definitely chip easy. The only drill marks are from the tail guard. And I don't see any big ply separation on the sides yet. I give this a 4 1/2 rating because its starting to age faster.

This is a board with half its graphics gone, do to someones past skateboard history left on it or time. Does that affect the value? Yes! 

So many boards are constantly sold in this condition and every time a board like this gets sold or traded it gets treated differently and in different environmental conditions. 

This repeated treatment will speed up its damise if not cared for in the right way, and thats just the shipping. 

How long do you think this board will last, even in this condition ? 

And what will be the value of a board like this in the future ?

This is another perfect skateboard for a V.E.S. refurbish. Putting some pop back into this board would be easy and a little  touch-up on the graphics to bring some life back to it visually could be done to match. And fix the razor tail and chips or nicks. And once the work is done , having it sealed to lock it all in. Boards like this do have promise in the collectors world of the future, it just needs some help getting it there. 

This is a stock Tracker truck in stock aged condition. As you can see it has hardly any use and was probably only used for display or to be stepped on because the king pin was tightened for some weight. These were ok trucks for the time but as the article said they were to wide of an axle for some wheels. Slight learning curve back then. As far as the condition of these trucks, I would say 7-8. Not perfect but not bad. Also trucks like these were on some of my boards back in the 80's. They were ok, slow turning, and they didn't like riding off high transition like a roof. If you can find some in this condition you will have an investment piece of skateboard history.

This vintage Tracker skateboard truck has had a V.E.S. custom detail. The hangers were polished and waxed giving protection and a great gloss. It also had a vintage Tracker hanger sticker attached. The truck pad was cleaned and shined, ready to display well. All the hardware was restored and the bushings were replaced to give this truck some function if used. This truck will now make an old board stand out, refurbished or not.
